Bio

I was born and raised in Germany and have been calling California my home for over 16 years. I worked as an Au-Pair and nanny for several years. Through my work with families I discovered Postpartum Doulas. I knew right away that this was the perfect path for me. I certified as a Postpartum Doula in 2011 with Doula Trainings International and ever since have been furthering my education with workshops, certifications and any research I can get my hands on. Taking care of new families is my passion. I feel fortunate that I get to work with amazing parents and their beautiful babies.

I'm certified as a:

I have been supporting families as a Postpartum Doula since 2011.

I update my CPR and First Aid Certification for infants, children, and adults every two years. All my vaccines are up to date including Covid-19, Flu, measles and TdaP.

Postpartum Support Support

I offer companionship and non-medical, evidence-based advice on breast, chest & bottle feeding, pumping, newborn care, recovery from birth, gentle sleep coaching, as well as physical and mental development of your baby.

As a certified Pre- and Perinatal Psychology Educator, my focus is to support optimal bonding and a smooth transition into parenthood for the whole family.

I stay up all night so I'm very responsive to the baby and parents at all times. I am happy to help with chores like washing and sanitizing pump parts/bottles, loading and emptying the dishwasher, folding the family's clothes and organizing the nursery. I do not offer sleep training but will give advice on routines and ways to help your baby to sleep well.

  • "When we came back from the hospital with our newborn, we were nervous, tired, and overwhelmed. When Annika came to support us on our first night home, we instantly felt at ease! She not only helped us get some well-needed rest, but also was extremely helpful in educating us on how to care for our baby. After only one night, she had also helped me breastfeed successfully after having lots of trouble in the hospital."

  • "I can't say enough wonderful things about Annika! On top of being extremely professional (always on time, communicative, etc.) she was also such an amazing support system through the early days with my first baby. She had so much great advice, was a wonderful sounding board, and was super invested in helping me get comfortable as a mom. She was also very up to date on best practices and latest research. She also could not have been sweeter with our baby and completely responsive to her needs. My only regret is that we didn't get to work with her longer!"

  • "Annika recently returned to our home to watch our second child, a son, overnight. Annika is a dream to have in your home. There is no one I would trust more with our children! She was the second person I told I was pregnant when I called her a few weeks into my pregnancy to book her as our postpartum Doula. We've had other beloved Doulas in our home, but Annika offers something more than most. She doesn't just watch your baby overnight. She gently helps coach you as a new parent to make the best choices for your newborn. It wasn't until sometime after we first worked with Annika that I realized the impact she had on both my husband and I!"
